One Room Challenge (Week 6): Big Girl’s Bedroom Reveal

Well, the big day is finally here!

Finally. Six short weeks ago we decided to tackle our fourth One Room Challenge! We totally knew what we were getting ourselves into… we’ve been down this road before with our Master Bedroom Makeover, our Laundry Room Makeover and our Bathroom Makeover. Throughout each of these, I often wondered if I was crazy or something… these challenges always seem to come at the busiest times! Yet, each time they’ve challenged me to focus on one room, update it, complete some DIYs and bring some beautiful results. A big thank you to our host Linda, from Calling It Home opening up this challenge to bloggers!!

In case you forgot, we started with this serious overload of purple and pink. Our sweet little daughter is growing up and developing her own style and I’ve wanted to redo her bedroom for quite some time now. While we didn’t get everything done that we wanted to, I’m so happy with the way it turned out.

Anyway, on to the pictures! My most favorite part of any room reveal are the pictures! I won’t do too much talking in this post… instead I’ll be back to share all the details and product source in another post!

I love what a bright and happy space Miss C’s room has become!

I used to make all our daughter’s hair prettys and these rolled flowers were one of my favorites to make into clips. I think they look so pretty in a picture frame too!

Big Girl Room Makeover

Last week I shared this Bedside Table Makeover using my favorite chalk paint.

A Big Girl's BedroomOf course, I had to bring in some pretty blooms…

I knew I wanted to keep this little girl ornament in Miss C’s new bedroom. She’s kinda special for a couple reasons! Some of our dearest friends moved away a couple of years ago and before they moved, our friend let our daughter choose a doll from her collection. This doll reminds me of our own little girl… pig tails, missing tooth, skipping rope in hand and a smile.

I love Miss C’s new floral bedding. Usually I’m a more neutral person but this brought me totally out of my comfort zone and I love it! So glad we went with it! The only thing our daughter specifically asked for in this makeover was “lots of pillows”. Looking at the pictures, you might think I let her down… but I didn’t really! My seamstress (aka my mom) had to very unexpectedly go out of town at the last minute, so I couldn’t get my throw pillow covers made. But once Mom is back, I’ll be adding a few more! Can’t wait to show you the pretty prints!!

I couldn’t believe my luck when I found this galvanized “C”! I was torn whether to paint it or keep it as is…

but then I remembered this galvanized tub I had gotten from my grandparents and thought it would be perfect to “house” Miss C’s stuffy collection!

This pretty scrap garland is the perfect addition to the gallery wall! And isn’t that chandelier so pretty??

Thank you SO much to each of you, my wonderful readers and friends for following along on yet another DIY project with me! Your comments make my day and so glad you chose to spend a little bit of your time in my little corner of blogworld!

Have a wonderful day friends!

What a perfect room for your growing little girl! It has all the touches that a young lady should have but is still sophisticated and will grow with her. I love the touch of the rolled flower in the frame…..such a sweet reminder of the clips you would make for her hair! Another fabulous room reveal for you!

I bet your little girl feels like a princess in this room. What I like about the room is that it’s perfect now and will still be appropriate later as she gets older. The bedding in here is really pretty too! Congratulations on another ORC completed. 🙂 I just finished my first one and I have to ask, did you find the bedroom harder or easier than the other rooms you did previously?

    • Kendra says:

Thanks so much for your sweet comments, Jenny! And congrats on finishing your first ORC– you should be proud! Some of our previous ORCs have definately had a lot more work but somehow this one kept me incredibly busy, just because of the busyness of life, and a million other things goibg on right now, if that makes sense?? So worth it though! Thanks for stopping by!
