Cozy Fall Home Tour

Happy first day of fall, friends!

I had an extra hard time letting go of summer this year! We made so many sweet memories this year and I love having our babies home for 2 months but by the time the middle of September rolled around, I was embracing fall and loving it like I always do. I’m ready to be wrapped up in cozy sweaters and boots. I’m looking forward to it getting dark outside earlier and gathering around the dining table each night as we all chat about our days. For some, fall is filled with many extra activities… but for us, time seems to slow down just a little bit. And I love that…

Today I’m so excited to be joining a huge group of amazingly talented bloggers for a fall home tour! Such a big thanks to my sweet friend Deb from Seeking Lavender Lane for organizing this and all her hard work! If you’ve never visited Deb’s blog, you must… her home is so inviting and cozy!

And if you’re visiting my blog from So Much Better With Age , welcome! Isn’t Jamie’s home stunning? I love her French vintage style! I feel truly honored to be on this tour with such amazing talent!

So grab yourself a warm cup of tea or a pumpkin spiced latte and come on in!

If there’s anything I’d love to show you during this tour, it’s that you don’t have to spend a ton decorating your home for the seasons! I am all about decorating on a budget and encourage you to “shop your home”! I also love thrifting and yardsales and so many items you’ll see in our home were yard sale finds that I’ve painted and given a whole new look! When I do buy new seasonal dΓ©cor I try to buy a few classic items that we’ll use for a long time.

Welcome to our home on the Canadian prairies! Fall really is such a beautiful season in our neck of the woods. The leaves seem to turn color almost overnight. We’re blessed to be surrounded by grain farms and there’s nothing like the sight of combines working long hours to bring home that harvest. The smell of all the different crops bring back memories of my childhood growing up on the farm.

Last year we turned our playroom into our farmhouse style office and needless to say we use this room every single day! I’ll never tire of hearing my husband and kids play the piano.

My chalkboard is another piece that my husband built for me and I added the word “grateful” to remind me every single day that I have so much to be thankful for. The desk was also a thrift store find that I redid and the chair is my cozy spot where I love curling up with a good book and cup of tea! I just added a fall candle and pillow for a few touches of fall!

My husband built these shelves for me and they’re so fun to decorate! I love the “thankful” sign and such a perfect reminder to count my many blessings.

Our fireplace makeover is another labour of love from my husband and is the focal point of our living room. It’s what you see when you first enter our home and I love decorating it for different seasons.

I found this little green truck during our summer holiday travels to British Columbia.

And I have my daughter’s Little House On The Prairie collection ready to read … we love reading this series together and excited for evenings spent by the fire curled up reading with our little girl!

The blanket ladder and the crate both hold lots of warm blankets to snuggle in!

And before you go, take a peek out into our backyard where we’ve been busy picking up apples. There is nothing that says fall to me more than the fruits and vegetables we harvest from our own yard. As a child, I picked up hundreds of apples from our trees on the farm and I love creating these same memories with our own children. We’ve been busy canning and making delicious treats from them!

Thank you so much, sweet friends, for stopping by today! It really does mean the world to me!

Your home is just beautiful! I love the calm, simplicity of your whites and creams with pops of color from berries to your little green truck. I am a retired elementary teacher, and I donated all but my very favorite children’s books to a school that lost everything in the flood. But, those favorites, like your Little House on the Prairie series, are part of my home decor. They bring smiles whenever I am dusting around them. Thanks for sharing!

Your home is just gorgeous, Kendra! I love every little detail. That chalkboard is beautiful and I love your shelves your husband made for you so much that I pinned it! I just love shelves that are decorated and you did so well bringing fall decor onto them!

Kendra, your home is beautiful! Your Fall decor is perfect. I am a little jealous of your being able to pick apples in your own yard though! We have to travel to the mountains to go apple picking!

Thank you so much, Leen! Appreciate your sweet comments! It is fun to have fruit trees right in our yard… do you have any other fruit trees where you live? So glad you stopped by!
