It’s hard to believe another #MonthlyDIYChallenge is upon us! The second Wednesday of each month, a few of my blogging friends and I each come up with different DIY projects where we all use a certain theme or item! May is all about planters!

Last month was one of my favorite challenges yet where we used dowels and I loooove this DIY Blanket Ladder my husband built for me. Be sure to check it out if you want to make your own… you’ll see how easy and affordable it is!

If you’d like to see more of our themed projects check out 1X2s,  crates, stencils, dollar store items, paint sprayers, and upcyled material. Those are just a few of my favorites 🙂

Once May rolls around I start dreaming of yardwork, planting flowers and a few of our favorite vegetables. However, up here in Canada we’re a few weeks behind and usually wait for the long weekend to do all our planting. That way, the chance of frost is usually gone by then and warmer weather is here to stay!

So, since I don’t have my planters full of gorgeous blooming flowers just yet, I’ll share my favorite planter from last year. A few years ago my uncle heard I was looking for an old antique milk can and being the super kind uncle he is, he found one just a couple weeks later! And I have to admit, it makes for the easiest planter ever!

The milk can was very rusty and brown and because the exterior of our home is so light, I thought I’d give it a very light coat of spray paint. I used my go-to white spray paint and it’s held up perfectly. I love planting an assortment of our favorite flowers in a pot and then I just set the pot right into the mouth of the can. I love this simple planter and especially when the flowers grow and start spilling over the milk can!

If you enjoy going to yard sales or antique places, be sure to keep your eye open for one!

Another planter idea I shared last month is this cute Mason Jar Herb Garden. It is so handy to have sitting beside our kitchen sink and I often reach for the oregano when making spaghetti or the parsley to use as fresh garnish. When it comes to planters, be sure to “think outside the box”. The ideas are endless and there’s so many everything things you can turn into a planter!

Be sure to check out all these other amazing planter project ideas! Hopefully, you’ll find some inspiration to
